The Train instructions

Due to the rapidly decreasing quality of the MUC, I started getting tired of it and I figured once again it's not worth keeping up and was about to delete it. Then I thought I might as well try the one thing I haven't yet - namely to steer it towards quality and ethics. Maybe full free speech while enduring trash just for the sake of not angering a few people who can't figure out basic social behaviors was a mistake in the first place. So let's try to set up some rules here:

• No leaking stuff someone told you in private that you don't have permission to reveal.
• No raiding other MUCs. If you want to do that, do it on your own, without linking it to this MUC. Coordinated attacks of other MUCs on this MUC are also not allowed.
• Jokes, memes and trolling are allowed, abuse meaning to break someone isn't. If someone bothers you so much, resolve the conflict in private or if that's impossible, just disengage.
• All discussion topics are allowed, like always. Try to assume good faith while discussing. If a discussion is getting heated and / or unfruitful, have the decency to stop or take it to private.
• If posting media that might bother someone, mark it as violent / pornographic, etc.
• Try to link only to privacy respecting services, remove tracking parameters, etc. If you are citing a news piece, please also link it. Don't randomly ping especially the entire chat. In general, respect others' time and dignity.

I realize this will be a controversial change, somewhat going against what made this MUC what it was in the first place. But if the train is meant to avoid exploding (and the tires are all already burning), it clearly has to be done. Some people simply can't stop themselves from doing whatever they can to ruin the experience for others, testing limits, etc. Realistically, most of these rules shouldn't be that big of a deal except again, for the few who can't figure it out.

The point of these rules isn't to enslave people or show off power positions, but to make a space actually worth being in. An actual community, instead of a jungle where monkeys throw shit at each other.

People who have been shown reliable will be added to members. Moderated mode will be turned on in case of severe abuses, during which anyone not on this list will become unable to speak.
