Justapedia:About
Justapedia is the registered trademark of the Justapedia Foundation (JPF), a tax deductible section 501(c)(3) charitable organization for educational purposes. The Foundation's mission is to host and operate Justapedia, a free and open-source encyclopedia, by providing the platform and tools to enable volunteers to easily edit, create and share their knowledge while maintaining compliance with Justapedia's policies and guidelines. The Foundation is dedicated to maintaining a friendly and welcoming community, and is looking forward to hosting fun community activities and competitions that, with the help of tax deductible donations, will afford us the opportunity to offer scholarships, and various other educational incentives. In a nutshell, Justapedia is about advancing true knowledge and preserving history by objectively publishing and maintaining all substantial views from a position of neutrality. It is not a rule that the sources must be neutral, but it is important that they were chosen objectively and with the knowledge that context matters.
Licensing
Justapedia is an ongoing project that began in October 2022, originating with content from Wikipedia and its volunteer editors, some of whom are also Justapedians. According to Wikipedia:Mirrors and forks, all forked content has been properly attributed in the page footer in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's free CC-BY-SA license. [1] The same free license applies to the revisions and new articles authored by Justapedia volunteers which is also noted in the page footer and at Justapedia:Mirrors and forks. If you have any questions, please post them on the Talk Page.
Editing
The Justapedia Foundation is providing the platform on which volunteers can build an objective and neutral encyclopedia in a collegial environment. Users are responsible for their own actions, comments, and all of their edits. JPF does not endorse any opinions, or make any representations or guarantees as to the reliability or factual accuracy of user generated content, and provides access only.
Purpose
Justapedia's main purpose is that of an encyclopedia of true knowledge, one that is assimilated and disseminated by volunteers who want to share what they know in an online collection of all human knowledge that is free to the world in perpetuity.
Justapedia editors, also known as Justapedians, will not only be creating articles, they will be editing existing articles to make them compliant with Justapedia's policies and guidelines, as well as the five fundamental principles. Many of Justapedia's existing articles originated from Wikipedia, including contentious topic areas where objectivity and neutrally have long since been lost. Volunteers are helping to modify these articles to reflect objective encyclopedic content, making them a better fit with the mission and goals of the Justapedia Foundation.
The Justapedia Foundation wants its projects, communities and contributors to be as diverse, inclusive, and as accessible as possible. They want anyone who joins, now or in the future, to have a positive experience in a safe and healthy environment, and are committed to ensuring that happens. They also want to protect all projects against vandalism and ill-will by those who want to damage or distort content.
In line with the Justapedia mission, all who participate in Justapedia projects and spaces will:
- Help create a world in which everyone can freely share in the infinite expansion of true knowledge
- Be part of a global community without bias and prejudice, and
- Strive towards accuracy and verifiability in all the work, project-wide.
